Behind the Scenes - May 2025

May has arrived! Seniors are ready for life transitions.  They will celebrate milestone activities from the graduation ceremony itself, to parties, and possibly new jobs or schools shortly.

As a senior photographer, it's one of the busiest times of the year.  I'm providing photos for graduation announcements, delivering photo albums, and attending grad parties to help celebrate with the graduates and their respective families.   

In between those activities, I'm still photographing sessions for seniors who weren't time sensitive, but still want to document the occasion, and hiring out for graduation parties.   

During May, Mother Nature officially turns on the oven in Arizona weather. Many out-of-towners hear the phrase, "But it's a dry heat!"  This means outdoor sessions will be either early in the morning or just before sunset.  The seniors gain two benefits from this time.  1) Great lighting; 2) We photograph the senior looking their best minus the sweat.  

May is a fantastic time to do indoor sessions.  I love that indoor sessions enable the opportunity to capture more complex visions.  We take photos that range from simple single-image window light to using multiple strobes and a green screen.  Whether you're a musician wanting the look of a smoky nightclub to an athlete looking for a multi-image composite, we can accommodate.   

Don't forget that May is officially the time to surprise a Mother with a gift of photos.  It is also a great time to start planning for Father's Day.
