August 2025
August has arrived! This is the start of high school sports programs and senior portraits.
Senior banners are usually the first activity to be requested. Every year comes with new dynamics and unknowns. You learn to pivot and adjust accordingly. I appreciate a strong booster representative. The good ones are decisive, flexible, and effective communicators. This year was the smoothest and fastest cycle I’ve experienced. First capture to banners hanging occurred in < 7 days. Thank you to the Perry Swim Boosters!
The next activity to kick off is senior portrait session interviews and planning. The interview process is a fun two-way discussion. I want to learn about the senior candidate as a person first.
As a photographer, it is essential for me to get to know you. That is how we will collaborate best to create an experience you and your family can appreciate and enjoy.
Be ready for me to ask you questions to help learn about you. You should ask me questions too. At a minimum, I want to know what you like? What don’t you like? How do you see yourself? How do you see others around you? How do you interact with others? What topics do you like? Which ones turn you off? Are the photos for you or to satisfy your parents?
Ultimately, the picture session should be for you. Mom and dad will be thrilled if the photos show the true you.
As a parent myself, I can tell you, the hospital didn’t send me home with a parent manual. Even if they did, it would have a different chapter for every kid. Both of my daughters have distinct personalities. So do my brother, sister, and I.
Knowing this I hope you’re excited to meet a photographer who wants to know you as a person first, then capture photos of you that reflect this.
If this approach resonates with you, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
David
